Not so different from the 500 ml bottle I opened in 2023, except that it opened up a little quicker, and did develop some loamy/earthy character on the finish that I really enjoyed. It’s definitely a California wine, but the story is about the dirt.
Good Pinots (including champagnes): My extra. Popped and poured because I noticed Rhys tends to be more old-world on opening, but develops jammy notes with air. And so it proved, could see why everyone guessed warm vintage Burg with the maraschino cherry notes that had a savoury element. However, it became more candied and sweet with air. Still very enjoyable, one of the few new-world wines that I buy.

From 375ml. This showed a bit darker than the last bottle. More black cherry and even some currants and cola. Some oak notes stick out along with some piney type spices. Smooth and silky fruit—but components still stick out a bit.

- From 375ml and consumed from a plastic cup at a sweltering hot tailgate party. It was still phenomenal. Not going to get technical, but this beautiful wine showed me why Rhys is considered among the best CA Pinots. I'm sure I'd be giving this a 94-95pt review in my usual environment

Bordering on a 93. Tannin tamed for me today Wonderfully balanced California expression of Pinot Noir.
