Opened and poured. Medium weight, smoky and black fruits. A little thin on the mid palate, with some heat on the nose. Braised plum, blackberry, black cherry. Good at this stage.

Tasted past its prime but still a good wine - energy was missing from it. Red and black cherry, wood, spice and soy notes. Completely integrated tannins and no acids quality. Smell was a bit flat and almost like madeira wine. Very complex but short finish.

Opened for copy suey dinner, revealing a medium red to pink with oranging. Humid, grained nose of strawberry syrup, oak, iodine, cola. A blast of ripe fruit on a veneer of alcohol, showing secondaries to the madeira range. Nuanced, with depth and interesting flavor development. With air, adding a nice savory element, and fleshing and filling out the body. A bit hot on the finish, this offering would benefit from a slight reduction in big flavor and earlier pick dates for a bit of restraint. Day two plus under vac-u-vin, this showing nice charred density and depth, a brooding caliber, very nice.

The nose and fruit are as lovely as ever, but the toasty oak notes are more prominent on the palate with a paucity of acidity or tannins on the finish to pull it off.

10 Year old and still kicking, but a little musty.
