Cloudy straw color. it has a big oak nose. buttery oak and a bit hot. not my favorite. hate to say that it is the type of chard that to me gives chard a bad name.

I thought next to the Ramey Ritchie '05 this would pale in comparison, but not so. Martinelli has gotten heavy-handed with the oak of late, but not this wine. Medium gold, with a soft mouth feel and a cedary honeysuckle fennel nose. The oak is nicely integrated with the flavors of banana, citrus and spice. This is why I became a fan of these Chards; too bad recent bottlings haven't measured up.

Perhaps the best Martinelli chard I have tasted. Good balance with smoky, deep fruit. Long finish with integrated but noticeable oak.

Lovely, lush chardonnay - neither overly-buttery nor over-oaked.
