The nose is expressive, with black fruits and oak. Palate shows great acidity and lots of minerals, before revealing plums, blackberries, forest floor, bell peppers. Mostly promary but deep and complex. Medium tannins, with a long, lingering ending with white green pepper, boysenberries, and sandalwood. A fruit-forward, expressive Syrah that will please lovers of big, bold Napa reds; this is not, however, a fruit bomb, but a fruit-driven, balanced, high-quality wine. Very enjoyable and might improve with age.

Decanted one hour. First sip is an explosion of flavors but velvety smooth tannins and mouthfeel. Medium/heavy mouthfeel that fades to a long lingering finish. Great structure and extraction. Classic velvet glove in a iron fist. Layer after layer of fruit. This is a really great Syrah. I have four bottles of the 2017 but this was the last of the 16. Excellent.
Decanted 90 minutes. Dark purple. First sip is dry without any sweetness which I don’t like. Flavors are still primary with mostly tart purple fruit. Nice structure and concentration. Mouthfeel is full to medium full. Finish is long and lingering. Not much in the way of secondary flavore. Needs more time for this.

Earth and leather nose, tart on front of tongue, tartiness continues on back of tongue. Drank from cellar; recommend airing, then return to cellar temperature.

Tartness covered up the red fruit, even after a couple hours. From the other reviews, I'm guessing that I opened it way too early, so no rating.
