  • Been a long time since I've had this....loved it then...and still do! Still dark and inky purple, throwing tons of sediment. Sweet purple/white flowers galore on the nose...as well as a little asphalt tar funk(some might call brett), white pepper, smoked meat, leather...wonderful nose! Lush and concentrated dark liqueur berry fruit in the mouth, but has more sour skin acidity to break up the rich fruit, and make it seem thinner and brighter....a little too tart and thin for what it should be imo. Love the flavors though...white pepper, smoked cherries, camphor, perfume.....just out of whack in the feel. If this only had the balance of a sqn wine???

  • Now I understand. For years my wine friends have denigrated wines because of excess levels of "Brett". This bottle was an epiphany. I just couldn't enjoy it because of the rampaging brett. Flawed and not enjoyable in the least. I'll save this for a day and see if it blows off. If so, I'll supplement the tasting note. If not....no rating over 65.

  • This wine is so much better with a little age. The nose, while still a little off, has improved. Very smooth with nice spice. Wish had a little more left.

  • I drank this (OK, my wife and I did) over the course of 3 hrs. This completely changed in character during that time. Quite fascinating. During the first hour, it was more on the tart side, with a nose and palate of rhubard, bing cherry, and a hint of eucalyptus. Very nicely structured. but a lot less tannin than I anticipated. Thus, it seemed a little hollow in the middle. By the end of 3 hrs, however, this was much more lush. In addition to the fruit (which had, thankfully, lost some of its zing), was a nice depth of cocoa, coffee, and a darker cherry. Wonderful. One of the better Landmarks I've had. Had I more, I would drink some now and hold on to a few for 2-3 more years.
