One of many 2002s tonight. I have some chardonnays that are still attractive but on the downhill slope. This is one of them. Hazlenut and citrus with some minerality. But a very short finish and lacking any verve.

If you have it, drink it now. This wine had lost some fruit and didn't show very well (1.5L too). I had an Overlook '04 last week as well and was much more impressed for the price.

This was opened by Haggis at his house last Thursday for a happy hour he hosted for some of the Chicago crew. A wonderful evening (weather wise, company wise, food wise and wine wise). Unfortunately, this was my least favorite bottle of the night. However, that should not surprise anyone who is familiar with my dislike of almost all things Chard. Too buttery and oaky for my tastes. A little heavy handed as well. It reminded me of how easily Chard can be manipulated by a winemaker. A well made wine but I couldn't help wanting to move on to something else. Others will like this much better. 84 points.

Developed, but still quite lively, with medium to high acidity lifting apple, dried white flower, orange peel and oak spice flavors.
