This wine comes packaged in a heavy oversized, almost magnum weight bottle. Consistent with our last tasting of this wine, it was a perfect complement to beef tenderloin; dark garnet/purple colored, medium-full bodied, smooth, polished, complex full flavors of spicy blackberry and subtle red raspberry with tones of clove and sweet dark mocha turning to finely integrated tannins on the smooth lingering finish. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2021/01/neiman-cellars-caldwell-vineyard-red.html

Mature and old-world in style. Since my last bottle 1.5 years ago, this has lost some of its fruit but retrained much of its acidity and overall structure. Other reviews below are pretty spot on. At this stage, I would enjoy this as more of Bordeaux-like experience rather than Napa. Given the structure remains solid, you can still age this further to see more tertiary notes appear.

My last of three bottles, about two years since #2. Opened (not decanted) 60-90 minutes before tasting. No signs of age whatsoever. Nice nose - currants and a hint of road tar. Currants on the palate and not much else. Medium bodied, but with big fruit. Good (but not great) finish. A solid wine, but lacking in complexity and a "wow" factor. Well balanced right now, but still enough tannins to suggest that it may improve in another two or three years.

good, but too much "minerality" at the end, must be at the end of the drinking window
