Drank over 2 days in n Coravin Pivot. I believe 2-3 hour decant is right. This wine is approachable for a Howell Mountain. Popped the cork on the second day and had 2 glasses. First was almost there. Second glass, hour later, was awesome.

Coravin tasted. I plan to open the bottle tomorrow and let it develop. This Howell Mountain beauty is still an infant, but wants to grow up. Intoxicating nose of deep black fruit. Front palate is a hint of raspberry, developing into intense blackcurrant with a slight cherry accent. Mid palate shows some cocoa with maybe a hint of nutmeg, almost making me think chocolate is on the way. But then, the finish is long, dramatic, tannic, and reminds you this wine has several years to go. Each short pour I come back to is better after a quick break to recover from the tannins. I’d revisit a properly stored bottle in 5-7 years to see where things stand. Great showing.

this is very green and needs years in the cellar; but after a long decant, grape soda, jammy with some mineral elements... nice

Pepper and smoked blue fruits. Deep dark color. Hard to drink. Not in my wheel house
