100% Sangiovese from Panzano. Macerated with the skins for 2-3 weeks, aged for 12 months in oak. 13% alcohol, 5,5 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.
Moderately translucent cherry red color with a subtle hint of developed maroon hue. The nose shows a little bit of age with complex and quite attractive aromas of slightly wizened red fruits, some tobacco, a little bit of sour cherry and a hint of earth. The wine is medium-bodied, lively and enjoyably acid-driven with bright and fine-tuned flavors of ripe red fruits, some wizened sour cherries, a little bit of dried dark berries, a hint of tobacco and a touch of dried herbs. The wine is quite structured with high acidity and moderately grippy tannins. The finish is firm, slightly grippy and enjoyably savory with dry flavors of tart cranberries and red currants, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of wizened black cherries and a hint of developed leathery character.
A pure, tasty and crunchy Chianti Classico that is as balanced and serious as a good Sangiovese needs to be. Being more on the lean than on the plump side with wonderful structure and pleasant, transparent fruit character, this is a food wine par excellence. The wine is drinking wonderfully now with the first signs of developed character showing, but I have no doubts this will continue to develop at least for a handful of years. The best vintage of Villa Cafaggio CC I remember drinking, great value at 19,99€.

Proper Chianti; refreshing, medium bodied, decent weight, some tannins remain. Drink now & next couple of years.

Doft av mörka körsbär och kryddor. Viss pepprighet. Frisk syra. Välbalanserad. Strävt.
