Records not handy. Bought 5-6 bottles 20+ years ago--likely less than 30/b, likely from Sam's or Binny's. This is not the first drunk but the first one I've recorded. Cork cracked but came out in one piece; damp halfway up. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple, no amber; rich, mature black fruit nose, bit of tar; mature plum, some black cherry, very good mouthfeel; some persistence. Delicious and holding well--glad I have more. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Red fruit and rustic character on nose, but frankly fairly indistinct. Still showing robust fruit, aging gracefully, even if not picking up much more interesting character.

Enjoyable but clearly well past its prime. Basically over the hill. Prune dominates.
