This wine shows just how lucky Martini was a to have Gallo take over a flailing operation. This wine was stemmy, weedy, bereft of fruit, thin and unpleasant. The 80 score is merely to recognize possible potential. If you are unfortunate enough to still have some, hold it for 5 years--it may even come out a bit, but it's an ugly stepchild now.

Pigeon's blood red. Classic cab nose with leather currants, grape and lead. Pretty huge wine that we a) mistakenly didn't decant b) drank too early and c) paired poorly with the wrong food. That said, as it began to open, the harsh and sharp tannins softened a bit and the wine became a bit more approachable. We decided to re-cork the 2nd half and try it again tomorrow eve. A nice wine that we will try again, with better discipline.

Kind of twisted right now, meaning the oak to fruit is in a odd place,
should get better??
If not, drink now.
