Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Unfortunately it never really came around during dinner. Pretty monolithic nose of prunes upon opening. After ten minutes or so it had a little more dark fruit, dusty earth and old leather teamed with a tad bit of blackberry brightness aided by the acidity but this faded about the same time we finished eating and it turned into nothing but stewed prunes. But then after birthday cake I tried it again and it was back. Some of that tannic dryness was now in the mouthfeel and I was getting oak finally with that drying on the gums. The fruit has come back way more so than during dinner. I’m still sitting here with it. It’s a whole new wine now.

  • Lovely brick red colour, brown at edges. Slight bottle stink, initially quite subdued with a brambly nose. Thin and acidic on the palatte. After 10 minutes, sweeter fruit on the palatte and richer nose with hints of beef dripping. After 30 minutes, really quite fruity and velvety. Harmonious but faded. Pleasant considering the vintage. After 45 minutes, really quite richly fruity but starting to fade.
