Pulled the cork and let it breathe for 2 hours. Tight upon opening. The bottle really opened up and was still nice after 3 hours. Beautiful Brunello, tannins have moderated. Cork was a bit dry and soft - careful pulling it.

Clear, bright orange-red colored. On the nose there are scents of dried rose petals, herbs, leather and pine needles On the palate there are expressive flavors of cherry, pomegranite, tar, licorice and mint. It has a full body with med+ acidity, Med+ tannins. The tannins are still a little strong. It has a long finish with flavors of cherry, tar and black licorice. This wine should rest for a few more years in the cellar.

This is an edited review. I posted my initial after opening the bottle for 30 minutes, and 90 minutes PAST that, it's a spectacular wine.
This wine needs to breathe. Decant it. Let it sit. It will surprise you.
Incredibly complex, lots of black currant, fennel, blackberry and cranberry on the tongue and very dry, comparatively. No real heat to remark on, but the oak is definitely there but not in any overpowering way. Slight notes of blueberry, chocolate and aromas of leather and rosemary - reminds me of a Touriga Nacional, which I simply adore.
30 minutes after opening in the bottle, I'd have given this a 50.
90 minutes after opening, this is a wine that stays with you and really illustrates the complexity of what a Brunello de Montalcino should be.
Drink now, or within 3 years.

8-hour slow-ox; well-balanced, one-dimensional, cool, dull fruit; expected more from this producer.

Strong earthy nose. Mild light fruit flavor with long finish. Unfortunate bitter aftertaste
