No formal notes. This struck me as surprisingly quite fresh. lots of secondary aromas and flavors with nice polish to the tannins now. Drink up for sure.

fruity, hints of honey in the nose. plenty of strong acidity left. suprisingly long finish for a zin this old. fruit is mostly bright, but aged in flavor - cherries, some blackberry, hints of cassis. smooth. hints of raisiny aging character.

Agree with Richard's note, but this resolved and improved a bit by dinner time (~5 hours of air).

2009 Ridge Monte Bello Component Tasting (and picnic) (Ridge Monte Bello Vineyard): Bricking dark violet color; mature, mushroom, roast beef nose; mature, somewhat pinched, tart plum, tart berry, tobacco palate with firm tannins; medium finish (100% Zin)
