On the way back from Rhys' pickup day, I decided to stop at Thomas Fogarty, which is only 10 minutes away and had always piqued my interest when I drove by it on the way to Rhys. I liked the Mindego Ridge wine well enough, although it was perhaps a little richer and heavier than I might prefer.
The 2013 Rapley Trail is a really impressive wine. Energetic, minerally black and red fruit. Not the least bit heavy. Focused with a long finish. Even among high quality, Burgundy-inspired North American Pinot Noir there's often a lack of precision. None of that here. Color me impressed.

Medium ruby color. Perfumed nose of dark fruits, raspberry and floral notes. Palate is fruit forward and expressive, dark and red fruits, black raspberry, savory notes, lavender. Early in its development, this should continue to evolve for some time. Very nice...

IPOB San Francisco...final event...lots of great wines, short notes... (San Francisco, RN74): This was the best of the Pinots in this flight from Fogarty...and one of the better Pinots at the IPOB event..
