Well, my last bottle of this wine was in June 2017, when I thought that it had a forward life of "several years" and marked it as "drink by 2020". I am disappointingly sorry to say that it seems that my drink by date was prescient -- or, there is great bottle variation, even with bottles received directly from the winery upon release. This bottle was slo-oxed for 20 minutes to allow it to open, and to warm a bit. The color was a clear straw yellow. The nose only yielded some minerality and some light stone fruit. The medium bodied palate was essentially the same, with definite minerality and only light touches of stone fruit. Gone were the tropical fruits and floral influence. With such light fruit presence, the juicy acidity ran far ahead and the wine was unbalanced, even later on as the wine warmed. Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda... Luckily all remaining L'Aventure wines in the cellar are red. Note: we had a very nice bottle of the 2015 in Feb. 2020 when the wine was only ~4 1/2 years old. Today's bottle was ~6 1/2 years old. Just sayin'.....

PnP. Aromas of honey and a touch of floral. Palate shows a medium+ mouthful of tropical fruits, and a touch of floral, with good acidity to balance. Great example of CA Rhone white. Should hold for several years.

52/28/20 Roussanne/Grenache Blanc/Viognier. Nice full bodied Rhone style white. I'm not sure Paso white blends will catch on enough to put this in the $45-50 range, but it's a good example with delicious Roussanne notes.
