A satisfying nose of smoky cassis, strawberry and lots of pleasing "old pinot" notes - mushroom, damp leaves, rose petal, old ciger box and pine needle. The palate reflects the nose with the addition of game and a mineral prickly on the tongue. Vibrant acids on the earthy finish which lacks just a little fruit. This wine has rewarded cellaring, opening up while remaining very pure.

Novice ALERT (First Note): I opened this bottle because I thought it might be past its prime. I don't typically leave Pinots unopened this long. ;-} But...this was actually better after being decanted for a couple of hours. Again, many of my Pinots are light (some say boring) so I don't decant a Pinot as much as I might a big Cab, for example. I was pleasantly surprised. I had a big group and didn't think to make a note about nose, etc. Will aim to be more helpful after the NEXT bottle. ;-}

Well balanced, mellow pinot, a bit past prime. Not much fruit left. Wish I had had it sooner.

I'm note usually a fan of Oregon pinots but this one is showing quite nice. Not a huge pinot but one that seems to be drinking at it's peak now.
