This pours deep and purple flecked ruby at the core with a moderately bricked rim. The nose reveals an overripe, powerful wine. Aromas of plum, prune, raisin, dried blackberry, toasted oak, and alcohol lift from the glass. The palate is low acid and has remarkably high remaining tannin (some of it seemingly oak derived). The finish reveals out of place, high alcohol. Not recognizable as Pinot Noir and not really my style of wine.

Cherry and clove notes develop as the wine breathes, turning to mint, herbs, white currant and pepper. Cherries and sweet currants on the palate with good underlying acidity. Picks up just a hint of earth in the background.

Opened by Allred at anvil. Showing no visible signs of age with no bricking. Red fruits, but also plenty of tertiary notes of loam and a bit of drywall dust. Just a tiny bit astringent or score would be higher.

From magnum. Dark fruit and spice tones on the nose and palate. Very well-balanced, with a nice long finish. Delicious. 91-92 pts.

Red Carpet: Mellow, like 2000 but older(!) less intense.
