  • Deep ruby red with garnet hues. Well rounded nose with herbs, floral, red cherries and a little woody.

  • A little disappointing compared to the 2010 vintage, but that was somewhat expected. Alcohol, floral, earth on the nose. Red fruits, with some apple on the palate. Medium bodied, well balanced with soft tannins and light, fresh acidity make this a nice wine, but overpriced. I'm personally not a fan of the hints of apple I got from this vintage, but it is still a nicely structure wine and would be a great deal if it were $40, not $90... While the 2010 was good, and even the 2011 Yountville was decent, I think this is my last run at Pina wines. There's way to many good wines at this price point.

  • Some Blind Cali Cabs: Deep purple-magenta color. Nose shows black cherries and blueberries, and I get this pervading scent of fresh mulch, also some mocha and mulling spices. Firm tannic punch, a full-bodied wine with medium- acid. Very grippy and toasty, the blackberry and blueberry fruit is coated with espresso, loamy soil, old library books, soy and roasted red pepper elements. Long finish with pencil shavings and Brazil nuts. Very good stuff, but it needs time to unravel. ($85)
