  • Missed this one in the Eurocave and past its drinking window. Very little of the nose except 'thickness' - reminds us of stewed cherries. This continues on to the palate. The Cinnamon, probably from the Zinfandel, does come though distinctly, and the pepper is still there. Little sweetness left but this held up better than I dared expect. Also interesting that it was the stronger, spicier flavours and aromas that persisted.

  • Medium purple solid rim. Green touch on the fruit. Black cherry and raspberry with a touch of wood. Nice balance of acid and tannins.

  • Wine was a Gift. Served @ around rm temp (17c/63f, 13.5%abv) w/Beef Bourguinin & Spaetzle. Deep ruby red color, wine is vintners blend of Old Vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Sirah (unspecified %'s - I expect varying each year). Nice nose of Dark Red Fruit and berries with notes of dark cherries, plum and cassis. Hearty and Full-Bodied, wine started off a little harsh, with perceptions of oak/redwood, but evolving into a more tannic flavor. Wine smoothed out over time, and with food, becoming more well-rounded. Wine is a little astringent, but that leads into a lingering, rather pleasantly tart finish. I believe Wine Enthusiast may have rated this vintage somewhat higher, but I'll agree with CT's ratings.

  • This blend was surprisingly good and a huge QPR. JACKAROO does a nice job of making the case for this eight dollar wine previously in this thread. Although we don't drink a lot of them, I have never had a bad wine from Bogle.
Nice nose, cherry flavor on the palate, good acidity with modest tannins, this worked well with a variety of late night tapas. Our non -geek friends were effusive in their praise of this wine.
