Mature, and elegant in a very mountain-ish kind of way. Red and white florals with good soil and mountain berry fruit notes. The color is lighter than the intensity of what's acutally on the nose, and to a lesser degree, the palate. Very fine, with resolved, framing tannins. A joy to drink, to savor. Now or in 5-6 years. recommended
The wine is lighter in color, super expressive on the nose... It's earthy and pungent at the same time, very fruity and floral. Pine needles, mint, tar and tart raspberry and red currant in the mouth, pomegranate-like tannins. So friggin' good. Had with chanterelle trofie pasta and pan seared duck breast.

Elevensies with Patrick (Grape Smuggler at Liberty Station): Wonderful bouquet. Aged, dusty aromas of cherries, strawberries, old leather, and spices. Full bodied and well-integrated, the red fruit goodness shows ample depth and length, epitomizing its sense of place.

Tasted at the winery. Mostly Nebbiolo. 12 years in boite. 12.5% ABV. High toned nose crossing over to detectable VA. Violets in the background. Great tannic grip on the entry with strawberries and cherry juice and dried mushrooms. Has all the parts (fruit, acid tannin) but they’re not full knitted. Given the age I wonder if they’re just starting to come apart after peaking. Just starting its downslope. 87 pts.

Very pale. Ethereal aromatics and weight. Faded but gently sweet fruit, fine acidity. Quite a steal for this mature Nebbiolo at less than $35!
