I real pleasant surprise as I'd bout a couple of these and had the prior bottle nearly 4 years ago, taking no notes. I thought this would be over the hill. Not so! Even though there were elements of both the nose and body that suggested (over-)ripe dark fruits, it was surprisingly buoyant with a persistent freshness (was there some carbonic?) carrying it throughout the meal. A 12% weeknight winner with a chicken dish (a glass+ left in the bottle overnight probably won't survive to the gullet, but if it does, I'll report back).

Medium rich earth/red/purple fruit. Trended towards aged/fruit preserve fruit quality vs fresher side. Bit of tannin and ample reasonably balanced acid. Went back and forth on it throughout dinner.

This was dark purple, almost Cahors dark. Lots of dark fruit on the nose. Mouth was inky and fruity, with a medium body, but balanced with high acid. This was heavy for my taste, but did well on it's feet with the acidity and low alcohol. Rebuy: maybe, but probably not, I can't see myself picking this over lighter Loire reds in the same price range.

Pretty good still. Like a very dry (dusty!) pinot. Nice balance, hints of fruit, mature.
