Clos Rougeard Dinner; 6/16/2014-6/17/2014 (Absinthe, San Francisco): Tasted blind. Reddish color; purity of fruit, orange, apricot, slightly raisined; balanced, full body, concentration of fruit but fades quickly, not quite concentrated enough to be an icewine; slightly sweet finish. 90 but a bit too sweet on the palate. An excellent dessert wine especially for the price, but there are many better in the top echelon.

Had a really interesting white floral note (which was giving me that Alsatian pinot gris idea) with lychee and pineapple on the nose. Still had nice acidity and charm.

Cab Franc, Especially Rougeard (Absinthe Brasserie, SF): Very dark amber in color, nearly red. Nose nectarines, nectarine skin, rhodedendron blossom, orange bitters, then the age showed with raisin. Interestingly fresh honeysuckle on the palate but lacking acidty like a Scheurebe. Some apple cider and apple skins on the finish.
I brought the wine but tasted it blind for the group. Guesses ranged from 10 year old Tokaji to a non grape based wine.

Cabernet Franc Dinner (featuring Clos Rougeard) (Absinthe - San Francisco, CA): Tasted blind. I was WAY WAY WAY off. Thought this was a newish Alsatian late harvest pinot gris. Anyways, let's change subjects....
