1967 Château d'Yquem

Dinner with the wine group (Los Gatos): Burnished orange, lighter than my previous half bottle of 1967; aromatic, orange, caramel, saffron, spice; palate is full bodied, youthful, still some residual sweetness, some orange marmalade fruit, minerality, some spice; long finish. This is far more youthful than my half-bottle of this a few years ago, and this tastes like it could still evolve for two decades or longer. This is a phenomenal Sauternes, but it needs more age (decades) to reach the peak of the last half bottle I opened. 96++

Dinner with the wine group (Los Gatos): Needed some time to open up. Red fruited, elegant, spices; palate is light bodied, balanced 14% alcohol, red fruited; long finish. Lovely, very good, but not a huge step up from the Pignan tonight. 93

Dinner with the wine group (Los Gatos): Red fruited, floral, elegant, well balanced; palate is low tannin, red fruited, balanced alcohol; finish is medium length. Very lovely, a step up from the Chateau des Tours. 91-92
