Tannins are diminishing, A Big Bold Full Bodied Star, Drank over the period of 3 hours and it didn't disappoint any of the group. Hints of Plum, Cherry and Vanilla on the Pallet. Notes of green olive and Smoked Salami, and some Lavender on the Nose.

Exceptional, and it's still too young to be drinking, but it's too good to stay away from. Big, bold, smooth, everything a great Napa cab should be. Outstanding when first opened and just gets better over the next few hours.

An outstanding cab. Great nose, lots going on but very well balanced. Well worth the cost. Has 10+ years of life left in it, if you can possibly wait that long to drink it.

Napa Valley Wine and Food Excursion 2013; 9/30/2013-10/5/2013 (Napa Valley, California): This vintage of Umbral reflects the best eight barrels of James Cole's estate vineyard. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, representing three different clones. The taster's first sniff easily identifies it as something very special. Explosive aromas of cassis, truffles, dried herbs, violets and espresso are intoxicating. The palate follows with similar flavors in a full-bodied, round frame. The alcohol (14.7%) is seamless and the substantial tannins are extremely supple. Impressively layered in the middle, the wine finishes very long and smooth. Bravo to James Cole for producing such a gorgeous blockbuster! Although it is drinkable now, it will no doubt become even more impressive with cellaring. Drink 2017-2030.
