Decanted and drunk side by side with the Rostaing La Landonne from the same year. Two great representations of Cote Rotie but the Guigal slightly edged it for me. The oak is always there but its so well integrated and the nose always blows me away. How can a wine smell lke that? So good. Dark, brooding and dense of course but somehow not heavy. Loved it. Will happily last about 20+ years.

Six Singing Bottles (Our Los Olivos Home): Staggeringly good (my friends think my score is miserly). Only given a 2-hour slow-ox, and may not have needed that. This bottle had it all: elegant, pretty and pure, with tremendous energy, too. A wine that demands your attention, loaded with lavender, licorice and roasted herbal notes. One taster was moved to veritable poetry: "a trifecta of aroma, taste and emotion seamlessly intertwined." There was great length to the edgeless finish.
Full body. 3 hour decant. Big and brooding, nose and palate of dark fruit, meat and smoke. Tight into the finish. This needs a good five more years to integrate but it’s enjoyable today.

Aromas are intense floral and berry. The palate is lifted and complex, with blackberry, violets, smoke, and minerals….it leans a bit more savory than rich and will be interesting to see how this evolves over time. it’s quite good already

Dégustation Côte Blonde (La Caverne de Collin): Un nez suave et délicat mais peu expressif, c'est un coulis de petits fruits, avec un peu de caramel. La bouche…..Stop the press!!! Wow! Spectaculaire. 98+ pts
