  I actually thought the wine might be off a bit with my first sip, but then after a few minutes the funk blew off and what was left was quite tasty. Mature, but the structure is all still there, going strong, with plenty of ripe fruit left. Very good.

  HK Wine Society Tasting & Dinner: Mature Brunello, 1975-1998 (Langham Palace Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong): Tasted blind in a line-up of 12. Semi-transparent and the colour of heavy old velvet curtains. One of the older wines? Nose is heavy and bulky...lots of oak but well integrated...muscular and powerful. Palate is immediately...GREAT! Open, fruity, poweful, integrated, good resonance and a forever reverberance on the finish. Simply superb. My#1, Group's #3. I wrote "BUY!" beside my tasting notes.

  Tuscany Tasting: Deep and intriguing fruit, some mint; long, very good grip and fine tannins. A wine with some personality.

  The bottle age has given this a very silken texture, really fine stuff. I was left wanting some more flavor distinction, though.
