Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Burwood): From Coravin. Hmm, on the nose this smells like another disappointing and muted 2011 (after the e.g. Batailley). Medium minus intensity aromas of almost baked black fruits are non-delineated, a little cream, cedar, pyrazine. In the mut it's juicy and dense with concentrated black fruits that prove equally non-delineated here. Very leathery tannins persist long, almost feels a little closed for business. Hmm.

There are some elements of Talbot here which are classic to the era - blackberry, plum, a loamy, black earthiness, and a touch of cedar. Yet they’re loosely knit together without much energy or verve. Followed for hours in the decanter, this just never really becomes engaging.

In memoriam Bordeaux tasting for Piet Kuiper (@ RvD): Beautiful and rustic bouquet with dark berries, laurel, mint and beautifully dosed oak. On the palate juicy dark berries, rustic flavors, chocolate, herbs, beautiful acidity and oak, Lovely tannin. Beautiful wine which is ready now and also has a future of several years.

A surprising wine given its vintage. Deep colour and depth of flavour, with dark berry fruits. Overall, an impressive structure.

Dekantert. Vesentlig bedre denne gang. Imøtekommende, balanse, hva jeg forventer dag 1. Mister litt kraft og fokus dag 2, men går bra.
