While there are signs of secondary evolution, this really shows the vintage through the preservation of great freshness. The nose features cherry compote, blackberry, sweet pipe tobacco, black currant, and cassis. Full bodied with dense but smooth tannin and juicy acid, the structure offers serious substance and stature. Flavors includes dark cherry, blackberry, spiced sweet black plum, black currant, and vanilla. This is drinking great now and while the tannins have more smoothing to do, I don’t see the rest of the wine evolving along with them; I wouldn’t bet on this evolving positively into the tertiary stage. It’s been a long time since I’ve had an Chaleur Estate rouge and strikes as the more fruit forward of Delille’s two high end Bordeaux blends. I do prefer the Harrison Hill with its graphite and earthy minerality.

On par with pervious tasting note, but slightly more palatable

Never thought I'd give a DeLille such a bad score, but no fruit and unpleasant acids and tannins. Not better the 2nd day.
