Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): Similar in stature to the 2009 -- riper fruit with a sweeter, confectionery aspect to it. This one actually feels a little bit more balanced, with a slight bit more acidity to it.

Dropped into a decanter served 30 minutes later and consumed with spouse over the next 2 hours. WOW kind of wine. Loads of iron, olive brine, black cherry, pepper and bacon fat. Didn't get any funk but wow was everything in balance. Long, intense and an absolute memorable experience.

Stellar showing! Iron, blood and deep earth with dark cherry and berry fruit. Exceptional balance and polish. Indisputably from the Rocks. The funk is now sublime, merging with white pepper and berries. Yet the gravelly finish is unmistakable. It is nice that this has held up so well without developing overt black olive notes that many of these older Cayuse wines can possess. We decanted 2 hours and would cut that short if we didn’t drink all of our bottles!

What a wine. Earth and iron gives way to cherries and plums. Fijishes with a bit of currant and mint.
