Opened to air an hour as my last bottle was a bit reductive. Reasonable amount of life left in this. Concentrated black fruit, oak, a little vegetal. Slightly coarse tannins unfortunately, which takes away from the overall. Was better with food than on its own, in this case mushroom quiche. Ok at this price but more rustic than refined.

This wine is at its peak! The color is a beautiful deep garnet with orange a the rim. On the nose lots of red fruit, mostly plum but starting to show some herbaceous notes of cabbage. On the palate it shows some soft acid and nice stewed ripe red cherry and some plum. While the tannins are well integrated the alcohol is a bit hot. All in all rather simple wine that is at or past its prime. Drink up if you have it in your cellar.

Decanted one hour. Surprisingly gutsy. Cedar and mocha notes on the nose lead to black cherry fruit, a bit of tobacco and plums on the palate. Still has an edge on the finish - not bell pepper, but some other earthiness that detracts from its finesse. All that aside, a good QPR. My wife enjoyed it more than I.
