Opened and decanted. Showing some clarity at the edge. Quick notes: red cherry fruit that fills out; no sign of decline; shallow middle with dry cherry finish. Good.

This was a solid 2009 Russian River Pinot Noir From @freeman_winery, clearly drinking in the twilight of its lifespan. It is earthy, with smoky cherries and hints of cola but it is also cloudy, less complex and very soft. As a lover of aging Pinots (and Ancient Burgundian Barnyard) it was right in my wheelhouse!

This C-noir is still juicy after 8 years. Also still a bit (a lot actually, I am being polite) clumsy and awkward. Its heavy. It lacks grace. It just sits there exuding fruit and cola notes. The acidity that was somewhat evident earlier in its life is now well hidden amongst the 14.2% alcohol, which is itself hidden behind the ripe almost raisiny fruit. I have a few more bottles so I will continue to follow its progress but I am not hopeful at this point.
What a shame.

Seems to be drinking at its peak right now. Lush mouthfeel, wonderful aromatics, great depth of mostly red cherry fruit and surprisingly light on its feet. What's not to love here.

Still drinking nicely, though a bit light, with good fruit left. Seems to have lost some of its complexity
