Ruby red, no browning on the edge; subtle nose of black berries, a little allspice; very balanced, smooth on the palate, couldn't be better, nice mid palate weight, fruity beginning holds through the middle; more berries on the finish, not harsh. Wish I had more than a\case back in the day and drank slower...

Uncle Ned provided at our CKH wine dinner nite before last. First red of the nite, appearance def showing some age. Barnyard and tobacco on the nose. Fruit has faded a bit (no surprise) but replaced adequately by tertiary notes of mushroom, earth and forest floor. The character of this wine remains rustic and earthy, particularly so since fruit is fading. Still an enjoyable wine.

At Gustav (Frankfurt). This is at peak. Wonderfully fragrant Bordeaux. No hard edges on this balanced wine. Great pairing with the exquisite main course (a small but succulent piece of Smokey steak) . Good value merlot based. Lacks a few layers and intensity to be great.

Still drinking well, a little hot on the finish but very alive.
