  • Single blind tasting
Dark brown orange, bricking and sediment
Medium + aromatics of dried tomatoes, tomato leaves, earth and secondary of tar. No oak. Fruit-less nose, but still fascinating to smell.
Medium palate with medium + acidity, medium + alcohol and medium + tannins. Herbs and tomatoes. Again no fruit characteristics.
Length is medium + dominated by the tannins
Glad this was my last bottle, if you have any left drink now. Hopefully you will still have some fruit left to help balance.

  • Dark garnet with moderate bricking - much sediment
Medium aromas of secondary leather/ tomato/ earth/ tar with no fruit characteristics presently - maybe some minimal oak influence
Medium plus palate of red/ blue fruit and herbs
Medium plus acidity with medium plus acidity and medium length - little high in EToh throwing palate off balance a little
Having tasted this particular wine twice now, I have come to the conclusion that this is not a flawed bottle, just that I do not like it
Palate is nice enough, but the aromas are quite off-putting to me - didnt want a second glass

  • Not sure where to go with this wine. First, in the glass the wine looked completely brown and oxidized. Not very aromatic and what was present was very unpleasant - cherry and tomato with underlying musty character and appeared oxidized. So Im thinking possible corked bottle because this shouldn't be so far gone already, right? The palate remained lively however, although I was almost afraid to try it. Medium(+) palate of red fruit and herbal/tobacco tones with medium(+) tannins and great acidity. I was still able to pick this up as Sangiovese on the palate. I don't think this could be corked if the palate is still lively but I would have thought this would be vinegar based on the appearance and aromas. This is why I love wine, so many questions. Rating withheld.

  • I think this wine is nearing its peak. I'd suggest storing this wine upright for at least 72 hours before you drink it. Lots of sediment. Needs a good 45 minutes, but after 6 hours it begins to turn. So drink up. Very nice.
