  • 2015 Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

**Tasted alongside '12 L'Eglise Clinet, PnP**

Deep ruby, purple in colour, opaque in center, with a wide reddish, translucent rim and a bit of legs.

Fruit forward and leathery on the nose, somewhat perfurmed, with blackberries, blueberries, some strawberries, chocolate, leather, graphite, spices and herbs, and a bit of oaked vanilla. The oak presence is not particularly overbearing.

Leathery with some oak and vanilla on the initial palate with the fruits coming through in the mid palate. Leather, vanilla, chocolate, wet earth, blackberries, blueberries, and black currants. Tannins are fine and silky with decent acidity, with a long beautiful finish.

Beautiful and delicious, already very approachable young. Can't wait to revisit this a number of years from now and see how it develops.

  • 2012 Château L'Eglise-Clinet

**Tasted alongside '15 Carmes Haut Brion, PnP**

Deep ruby, purple in colour, opaque in the center, with a wide reddish, translucent rim. There's no bricking whatsoever despite having a bit age. Legs are a bit fat.

Savoury, smoky, and leathery on the nose with the black and blue fruits hiding in the background. Smoke meat, smoke, tobacco, cigar box, graphite, wet earth, forest floor, cocoa, a bit of vanilla, blackberries, blueberries, and black currants.

Smooth and somewhat acidic in the palate on the entry with ample of fine, slightly grippy tannins. Leathery and smoky in the beginning with the black fruits coming out in the mid palate, similar to the nose. Wet earth, smoke, leather, cocoa, espresso, black tea, blackberries, and blueberries. Finish is exceptional with the fruits and slight heat lingering around.

Wow, delicious. Already approach but this can definitely continue to benefit with more age. Can't wait to retaste this a few years from now.

  • 2019 Maison Albert Bichot Corton-Clos des Maréchaudes Domaine du Pavillon

Medium garnet in colour with a wide reddish, rainy translucent rim, and some legs.

Earthy and pinot-funky on the nose right out of the gate with hints of savouriness and smoke. Wet earth, red cherries, strawberries, tobacco, and a bit of smoked meat. There is also a bit of oak presence with some vanilla notes, but very well integrated.

Earthy and fruity on the palate with red cherries, strawberries, raspberries, wet earth, a bit of black tea, and some peppercorns. Tannins are quite fine and the fruits and earthy tones are all well integrated with the acidity. There is a bit of heat on the palate towards a decently long finish, with the fruity notes lingering around.

This is very young but is already drinking very beautifully. Can't wait to revisit this a number of years from now.
