3/19/2023 6:49:00 AM - OMG, KKim......I just typed out an even longer response to you and it disappeared. Took me all of 45 minutes, too. Very disappointing. To summarize, drink what you like, when you like and with whom you like. Look at my cellar on here for my 'suggestions'. If I don't have it, I either couldn't afford it, am unfamiliar with it or don't like it! I only keep wines in my cellar that I really like. I no longer carry 'throw away wines' or what are often referred to as 'cellar defenders' which are wines you pour for friends who don't know wine and when you want to save your good wines in your cellar from them, lol.

3/18/2023 8:58:00 PM - Hi KKim! Glad to help out in any way I can.....it would be nice to know your likes or dislikes but I noticed your cellar access is restricted so I can't see what you like that you have in your cellar. Also your profile isn't filled out, so other members don't know what you like to drink or what your dream wine is. Maybe fill that out a little under your profile here, then like minded wino's will fan and friend you more often! I've met many wonderful people on here over the last 8-10 years and often get together with them in our travels for dinners and tastings around the country. Now, regarding my assistance......you need to know some of my history so you know where I'm coming from. I started down this wine journey about age 45, now 65. I like wines from all over the world and in almost all stages of their lifespan, young, old and in between. I can get as much enjoyment out of a 30 yo bottle and a 3 yo bottle. A lot of serious wine drinkers on CT have a much narrower range of wines or aging of them than I do. I am as likely to drink a new '19 now, and I'll also have some I age for 10-20 years hoping I live that long.....my cellar is about 61% Cali, 30.5 % France (Bdx), with the other 8-9% scattered amongst Spain, South Africa, Australia, etc. My cellar is 92% reds and 8% whites. I know the most by far about the two areas represented the most in my cellar, the USA/mainly Cali and France/mainly Bdx wines. I can give you some guidance in those 2 regions. '19 in Cali was a pretty classic, pretty stable year with generally a great vintage of grapes....'20 in Cali, not so good/record heat and wildfires and smoke for months which damages grapes and makes for inferior wines. '21 had some weather issues early with lots of rain which cost Napa and others about 30% of their crop but overall the '21 crop was very good and worth buying, just not a lot of it out there so prices are staying high and just keep going up due to supply and demand. Bdx in '19 and '20 overall were very, very good but '21 had a myriad of issues and nobody is really sure how those wines are going to turn out. There are some less costly wines in Bdx that can be a good deal, but there are also some priced way out of most people's price range here. Hope this helps! Mark
