2015 Schloss Lieser Niederberg Helden Riesling Spätlese
5/5/2024 - JRockEsq Likes this wine: 94 Points
Method: pop and pour; white wine glass; fridge temp
Look: light+ gold with yellow and green tint
Nose: honey, apricot, fresh ginger, salt, mineral
Palate: light honey, apricot, lime, mineral; medium+ finish salt, ginger, lime; medium sweetness; medium body; high- acidity
Overall thoughts: Very expressive nose. Palate is nice mix of ripe fruit, spice and mineral. Great tension between the sweetness and pretty electric acidity. I feel like it's just nicely integrated but still primary. Many years left, but great now. Great wine!
Update: 30 minutes later and the spice element is really exploding on the palate. Raised my score from 93 to 94. Excellent wine!
Paired wonderfully with carnes asada tacos.

2014 Kutch Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard
5/4/2024 - JRockEsq Likes this wine: 89 Points
Method: pop and pour; chilled; Burg glass
Look: medium+ garnet-plum
Nose: ripe cranberry, blood orange, forest floor, light mushroom
Palate: cranberry, underripe cherry, maybe some slight underlying earthiness; long finish blood orange, dried herbs; dry; medium body; medium tannin; medium+ acidity
Overall thoughts: Very nice nose with good mix of fruit and earth. The palate is more fruity, but definitely not too ripe, with a hint of earthiness to make it a bit more interesting. Well balanced and put together. 88 - 89 points. Very good wine.

2022 A.J. Adam Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese Auction
4/28/2024 - JRockEsq Likes this wine: 92 Points
Method: initially tasted pop and pour, but taking notes 6 hours after first opening; about 50 degrees; white wine glass
Look: light straw
Nose: pure white peach nectar, ginger, mineral; very expressive
Palate: juicy ripe white peach, ginger; medium+ finish light parsley, salinity, ginger, mineral; medium sweetness; medium body; medium acidity
Overall thoughts: Really expressive with beautiful, pure and precise fruit, which is complimented nicely by spice and minerality. Good body and just a lot of substance here. Finishes just a touch sweet at the moment and, while it is sufficiently balanced, it lacks the acidity to create the tension I love so much. This should improve quite a bit as it sheds its baby fat and the sweetness integrates a bit. Great wine!
