A lower score than I gave in September 2023. The wet straw/barnyard funk pretty strong on the nose and seems distracting to me. On the palate raspberries and strawberry with wood and dirt or woody flavors. Long finish, complex and layered. Maybe the whole stems coming through. I visited this winery a few years ago. Drank over four hours with homemade chili and later some chocolate.

Thinking back and reviewing my TNs, I haven't been this enthusiastic about a wine for over a year (January 2023 with a 2009 Chateau Smith Haut Lafite). I love this CNP. I didn't get the barnyard funk on the nose that other raters have mentioned. I got vanilla, oak, licorice and baking spices on the nose. The palate was delicious fruit: black cherries, ripe raspberries, figs. Outstanding integration of acid and tannins evidenced by the fact that I didn't think about either characteristic. Not sweet or cloying but a pleasant explosion of fruit and flavor. Had with friends and a cheese platter after dinner (Comte, Gouda and Cotswold) with JL and YL and wife. Prep for a Rhone focused wine dinner at a local restaurant later this week.

Dropped from last tasting over six months ago. Pours ruby with yellow ages. On the nose hints of cedar. The palate is thin, overly bitter. There is some of the tart cherry one expects from Sangiovese but imo this wine is not wel integrated. Perhaps past prime? I was excited to find this older Brunello di Montalcino but there are many newer vintages of Sangiovese from Tuscany that I would enjoy much better.
