2022 La Spinetta (Rivetti) Vermentino Casanova della Spinetta Toscana IGT

Nose dominates the personality of the wine with strong passionfruit and gooseberry aromas.Once you get past the nose(which I struggled to do), there is lovely, layered minerality with a spine of tingly acid. Needs good. Drink on the warmer side to get the most from the subtle but complex structure.

2017 Germano Ettore Barolo Cerretta

Drank with WC. Slow oxid’ed most of the day and then decanted before serving. Compared to other comparable Barolos on the night this was light on its feet, very elegant and ready to drink. Reflects the vintage? Still had great intensity and structure. Very very good and shows that you don’t need to cellar all Barolos for 15 plus years before they enter their drinking window.

Emirates 1st- average year, great wine. Elegant, concentrated, seamless, perfectly balanced but still with an incredibly long finish. What good burgundy is all about. Right in its drinking window. Absolutely delicious….
