Wow! Integrated tannins, smooth. Still loaded with cassis, vanilla, cherry, leather, blueberry. Great mid-palate. Medium finish. Drinking excellently right now. Last bottle. Best bottle. Can't go wrong with that:)

WOW!!! Deep purple color without any hints of oxidation or bricking. Decanted almost three hours and consumed over another three. Oh, the aromas. Seductive and intoxicating of themselves....Cherry, blueberry, hints of exotic spice waft from the decanter and glass. The smells themselves have a long lasting effect on the nose and palate.

And the flavors just burst from the glass....tongue coating fine tannins with intense flavors of dark fruits, hints of chocolate and spice that balance out the earthiness of the tannin backbone. This wine coats the tongue and the flavor lingers for well over a minute.

Amazing!!! Cellar or decant, you cannot go wrong. Paired with SQN B20 syrah for 54th birthday. I have to say, both will go for many more years....the Saxum had more fruit and intensity while the SQN had better precision and balance, but.....that's splitting hairs!!!

Decanted two hours, could have used many more. Richly colored burgundy red. Muted aromas of cassis, blueberry and hints of smoke that really emerged with the last glass six hours after opening. The palate also took time to open. When it did, precision and balance of this wine was simply phenomenal. Flavors of blueberry, hints of spice and smoke, melded with a texture that was incredibly smooth. Just a touch of green wood/young tannins that faded over the night. At least a 45 second finish.

Needs time...09 Saxum James Berry was paired with this. Both showed extremely well with air. The Saxum was more approachable now, but both could benefit from a couple of years on their backs.
