As stated previously, this is a fantastic example of what Mike Smith has done with this vineyard, this Cab is very good. Visually compelling color, intense dark purple with a nice nose of violet florals. On the palate it’s nicely extracted with dark berry fruits, black cherry, currants and plum. This wine is bold with really nice flavors but the best is yet to come, it’s so young. It's suggested that you should lay this wine down for a few years for all the components to come together and I believe that to be the case. A Cab that is big, fruit forward yet smooth, ready to drink as a pop and pour, but it does gin traction with decanting/ air. 94 as a pop and pour, 95/96 with air.

Dark purple color and a floral nose. On the palate, Dark berry fruits: blueberry, currants, tobacco and leather, with firm tannins. This wine has plenty of life ahead of it and I'd call it a good wine that has notable substance with a firm tannin backbone. This wine is still showing a bit inhibited/ restrained even after given some air. I may try this one again with an extended decant just to see how it shows. This is a good wine that I'll probably revisit down the road. 90+/91 points.

4/4/2017 5:33:00 PM - Yack Man, keep your eyes out for the 2014 Apriori Reserve cab. A local store recommended this cab and really impressive for $75. Apparently small production but in my opinion worth seeking-out a bottle to try.
1/4/2016 10:30:00 PM - Outpost Wines, I will keep that in mind. Thanks Bluegoose. I must say the 2013 portfolio of Mike's wines are wonderful. I can't believe how much I have enjoyed the Myriad Napa Valley Cabernet and the Scarlett Cabernet. Fortunately I have been able to put away some of the Scarlett and a few of the Myriad Cabs.
5/11/2015 5:07:00 PM - Hey Yack Man, you seem to have very similar taste in wine as me and was wondering if you would mind giving me a few suggestions for some California reds that are similar to the 2010 Hewitt. I love big, chewy, plummy fruit bombs, they can't be too dense for me honestly. Up to around $100/bottle is OK. Please email me at marty@modernbathroom.com if you have any ideas. I really appreciate it. This isn't some kind of solicitation or whatever, I just can't figure out how to Private Message you (I'm new to this site).

Not special and not worth it for my palate, even at a discount. Meh!
