We opened this bottle tonight for an easy winter dinner. It paired beautifully with buttery mashed potatoes and meatloaf. The fruit was a perfect compliment to the dinner. We received this bottle as part of our fellowship shipments in the past few years. I think of all the wines Frog’s Leap produces, merlot is the best. This bottle was restrained and not over oaked. Dried cherry on the nose, we got herbal notes throught. The finish was longer and had flavors of chocolate and wet stone. A delicious bottle to enjoy any evening.

I am a fan of Gewürztraminer wines and love trying winemakers’ takes on this varietal. I fell in love with this particular bottle right away. It is light and acidic, cutting right through a very rich dish we were enjoying. The flavors of peach and honeysuckle I noticed right away. There are lingering notes of ginger and baking spice on the finish. We saved part of the bottle and it was even better one day in. The lemongrass notes I detected the day before really shone and the sweeter flavors dropped off. This is a wine I’ll need to store away for a few years!
