  • 2013 Hummel Pryxx Brut Nature

100% Hárslevelü. Pale yellow fruit, white flowers and some faint apricot and pine needle notes on the nose. The palate continues with the apricot and the pine needles, adding medium acidity. Textured mouthfeel, slight mousse and medium to long finish, tapering towards mid-tones. Slightly drying afterfeel, maybe this has seen some skin contact, or is it just the phenolic character of the variety? Personal and textured, with the Hárslevelü character shining through, but could do with a bit more acidity.

  • 2021 Txomin Etxaniz Getariako Txakolina

Fruit salad, citrus, banana and some apple on the nose, as well as some farty reduction. The dry, slender palate continues with these ingredients, adding stony mineral acidity. Medium to long finish, tapering towards the acids. Fresh, linear and approachable, and (as is to be expected) excellent with food.

  • 2014 Thibault Liger-Belair Moulin-à-Vent La Roche

Dark cherry, oak spice and some slight cola and floral notes on the nose. The light to medium-bodied palate adds some red berries, some already pretty integrated oak, and decent acidity. Medium, still very present tannins and long finish, tapering towards wet rocks and tannins. Fresh and attractive, made with a Burgundian touch, but lacking a bit on the palate. Drink now or hold in the hope of some tertiary magic somewhere in the future.
