We had moved about 70 bottles from the Draper house to the new wine room in Heber. This bottle was actually a test to see how some of the wines held up to not "Perfect", storage. Beyond it''s Ideal drinking window, I was not expecting much. It was very good. It had lost a bit of its umph from earlier tastings but it mellowness was not offensive. The florals had died a way but the smoky meaty vanillaish licorice essence came through only a bit more mellow. I think that was my last one.

Wow. Nice surprise. The extra year of aging comes shinning through. At 15% alcohol, I though it might burn some of the taste away, but it was delicious. Inky Dark and had great legs, the first thing that hit me was the herbaceous overtones of sage, and rosemary as well as a full dark fruit. There was an essence of leather and tobacco. It has the perfect balance of acidity, fruit forwardness and tannin. Glad i got a few left.

I try not to read the tasting notes before posting, but it has been a while since I posted. I was tasting this for my wife. It was a deep dark purple and was fruit forward. I got plums and meaty spices on the nose. It was a bit viscous but not sticky. It was acidic but not offensive. Smooth is what my wife called it. She mentioned cherries and candy (honey of butterscotch?). It was nice but not overly complex.
