5/27/2013 9:08:00 PM - We would appreciate any and all tips for the Willamette region. We are planning on beginning in Walla Walla and heading over to Seattle before heading south through Willamette and down the coast.

5/23/2013 8:09:00 PM - Many thanks. I do know Jacob Toft by reputation and have heard of the others. Need to get them on an itinerary.

5/23/2013 8:00:00 PM - Well congrats on the anniversary! Our big day is actually on the 15th of June! We're going to be heading up to the Paso area the next day to relax for a few days. Truth be told, I initially thought Redguy was the blogger! I have bumped into Jordan a handful of times down at Denner while tasting with other winemakers who make their wines at the facility. Some recommendations I would pass along would be Edmond August, Jacob Toft, and Rangeland. Edmond August is native to Paso and has a long history their. He knows much about the land and area. He, along with Jacob, are the only ones I know of who get fruit from the Torrin Vineyard. He is tasting out of Paso Underground. Really worth checking out. He also gets fruit from Caliza. Jacob Toft, I'm pretty sure you've heard of. Started at L'Aventure and now has his own label along with making wine for Edmond August. He gets fruit from James Berry, Torrin, and will be getting fruit from Stephan's vineyard at L'Aventure from what I've heard. Rangeland is a project by Laird Foshay and is waaayyyy back up behind Tablas Creek. He owns hundreds of acres, if I'm not mistaken, with some altitude. Along with making wine he also raises grass fed cattle and sheep. He is doing Bordeaux blends and tastes out of his home currently. Really reasonably priced and great wines which will only improve with each passing leaf. Thanks for the recommendations. We will have to check out ONX and have enjoyed Paix Sur Terre at the Garagiste Festival. You're spot on! Doing great things with Mourvedre! Cheers! And thank you for blogging! Keep up the appreciative work!

5/23/2013 7:44:00 PM - I assume you found The Wine Write blog? If so, thanks for reading. I try to post weekly, usually on Mondays. I enjoy doing it, gives me an avenue to write, and some folks like it. We do have simiar palates, I think. Let me turn you on to another great resource, Redguy. Real name: Todd. Lives in Pismo Beach, wife Martha is tasting room manager at Sans Liege...was formerly at Denner. As to recommendations, I didn't see Paix Sur Terre in your cellar. Ryan Pease is doing great stuff with mourvedre. He will do a private tasting with you at Lone Wolf on Hwy 46 W. Tell him I said hi. Another I'd really like you to try is Onx. We were impressed when we tasted in March. I have several bottles laying down I want to try sometime. My white go-to is Kinero Cellars, Denner winemaker Anthony Yount's own label. The grenache blanc is killer at a great price. I also like Ranchero Cellars white blend and viognier. Our favorite visit two months ago was Epoch. I had interviewed Jordan Fiorentini for the blog, which led to barrel tastings, vineyard tour, etc. Great stuff. And if you make a few calls, you could do appts with Jordan, Anthony and Amy Butler the same day...all are currently making their wine at Denner. Thanks for reaching out to me, and let me hear your recommendations. And check out Redguy for sure. Lastly, congrats on the upcoming nuptials. Our 33rd anniversary comes up 6/14, and it's been a great ride.

5/23/2013 7:05:00 PM - Hi Randy! I have been a fan of your notes and have stumbled upon a blog through my facination with Rhone varietals which aligns with your tastes and I am just curious if it is your blog. My fiancee and I are HUGE fans of Paso Rhone wines, as you can see from my cellar... We have a few recommendations if you are interested since our tastes seem somewhat similar. I also was wondering if you might have a few recommendations for us as we find ourselves up in Paso every other month or so. We absolutely love the region, the people, and of course the wine! We love the Tillmans', Russell, Vailia, and Nick is great too. Not sure if it is your blog, but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! If it is your blog I'm sure our conversation could go on for hours! Cheers!
