A little young, and displaying some green notes. This bottling from Cristom is always a winner. Almost as good as the "four sisters" at half the price. Cellar Trackers, if you have not had Cristom's wines, you need to try them.

Very ready to drink. Nebbiolo is not my favorite wine grape, but this is an excellent expression. Will hold on it's plane of maturity for many more years, and likely improve.

May merit a higher score in a few years. Highly reductive at the present; it reminds me of a white Burgundy. Very un-California like. Personally, I find reduction at this level to be a fault, but many will find a great wine here. Cristom remains my favorite new world producer of Pinot Noir.

11/20/2019 5:07:00 AM - Melzar....we were on a BDX trip with a French winemaker from Napa. With his contacts we had access to all the best places. Haut Bailly, Poyferre, PClement, Lalande, Beychevelle, Mouton, Branaire Ducru, Margaux, Latour, etc. The trip of a lifetime! I have enjoyed the '90, '03, '09 and '11 Pape Clement pretty well. The '12, '14 and '15 can all be had now too but really should wait a while longer.
11/19/2019 7:34:00 PM - Melzar.....I love Pape Clement, most years. Also have a few diff Cos' and the good years there are very good. I love their '03, too. Pape Clement has way more sentimental value to me having visited and enjoyed a great luncheon at the Chateau in '17!
8/10/2019 7:53:00 AM - Melzar....thanks for the update! I've really enjoyed these '03s from BDX but what I've noticed especially true of them (Pontet Canet, Poyferre, Cos d') is they all shine best between the 3-5 hour mark after opening, whether left in bottle or thrown into the decanter. Just takes them up another whole notch, it seems. Cheers! Mark
4/4/2019 4:25:00 AM - I agree... we do seem to have similar tastes! Look forward to reading your notes... I will be in Ithaca, NY for a wedding over Father’s Day weekend. If you would like to share a glass contact me... dave@dtpwineadvisors.com. Cheers!
