This premium tawny port, vintaged and blended from grapes grown in the Barossa Valley is made at Penfolds Nuriootpa winery

Winery Tasting Notes

Penfolds Magill Port is a blend of old Tawny Ports vintaged and matured in the Barossa Valley of South Australia.

This wine exhibits fine Tawny characteristics both in colour and flavour.

The extended time spent in small oak casks has contributed to the full soft palate

Grape Varieties: Shiraz, Mataro and Muscadelle.

Oak Maturation: Various older small oak hogsheads.

Wine Analysis: Alc/Vol 19.0%; Preservative (220) added

Winemaker Dean Kraehenbuhl's Comments: A blend of fine aged tawnies from the Penfolds cellars. Penfolds Magill Bluestone Tawny is a blend of the traditional red varieties used in the majorityof Penfolds tawnies to produce a wine rich in fruit and age complexity, having a smooth flavoursomepalate and a lingering finish. Maturation in older small oak hogsheads ensures the wine gains an attractive tawny colour and development of varietal fruit characters without excessive oak extraction. The spirit used is a subtle brandy style spirit designed to add complexity and body on the palate while maintaining fruit integrity.

Serving and cellaring suggestions: It is recommended to serve Magill Bluestone with full flavoured cheeses, dried fruit and nuts. The bottle should be stored upright, not on its side.
