The 2018 vintage was warmer than usual, more along the lines of 2010 and 2013 for the Chardonnay. In the warmer years, the Upper Yarra handles the warmth really well. For the 2018, we have used a higher portion of new oak (still only 35%) and balance in second and third fill. The wine was aged in cask for 12 months, then spends 6 months in tank over winter to settle. Racked clean, then bottled without filtration, fining or stabilisation. The 2018 vintage in the Yarra Valley will go down as one of the classics. A long season, with enough rainfall to support growth without the need for irrigation.

This Chardonnay is sourced from our Top Paddock vineyard and is made only in the years deemed suitable for this label. This wine shows classic Upper Yarra Valley characters, some melon, struck match with a great finish. The only addition this wine sees is a small amount of sulphur at bottling. A wine to drink now or to cellar with confidence.
