Vinturied into decant and consumed over several hours, My last btl here since 2018, this one was more compelling and much better. The blend is a strange one, the Sangiovese still holding this back from stardom, IMO. Nonetheless this was very enjoyable once it opened. Drink now with decant thru 2024-7 latest

Vinturied w/decant, this wine never gelled, ok with food, but became disjointed on its own after a couple of hours. This was not a age problem either, more like wine maker isssues, blending etc. Disappointing considering the pedigree envolved. Drink now.

Interesting blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. More of the Cabernet stands out in my mind. Well integrated with anice structure and a smooth finish.

Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of dust, pepper and mixed berries. Flavors of red berries, raspberries and cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.

The color is dense and opaque and ruby to garnet colored. The smells are dark cherry, vanilla, dark chocolate, rose petal, and earthy notes. The tastes are cherry, dark chocolate, earth, pepper, and earth. There is good but smooth grip here with a nice finish with red fruit and wood spices on the end.

Decanted an hour, deep dark fruit, full bodied, devoid of sweetness and acidity, firm tannins. This is truly a very enjoyable wine not to be corrupted with food.

Lovely wine. Rich black fruit with a plush mouth-feel with notes of black cherry, red plum, and little cassis. Firm tannins with really nice mouth cleansing acidity. Consistently a high quality Washington red blend.

Drinking very well now. Popped and poured. Nicely balanced blend (cab sauv, sangiovese, and syrah (I think)) - the overwhelming tightness and astringency we noted when we tasted it two years ago have faded. A well-received, easy drinking red that both went well with chili and pizza (we drank it prior to heading out to trick or treat) and stood out on its own - subtle fruit, with some earthiness, pepper and tobacco; a long finish. We have been underwhelmed with Pirouette of late and, based on this bottle, would pick up more Saggi before we buy more Pirouette.

through venturi and into decanter for at least an hour. Dark purple, good bite on the tongue and still acid left, so lots of time left on this. Deep/dark fruit, medium to long finish. Real nice

Opened and decanted for an hour. Surprisingly oxidized in color for it's age. Still has decent flavors but is on the downward slide. Drink this year or next, at the latest. Extremely disappointed for the price.

Deep purple red. Big nose dominated by Syrah. Lots of dark fruit and traces of other aromas. Not so much an Italian expression of wine as American in style: Big, forward, full, long finish. needs time still to develop complexity. Little subtlety here, but a tasty full bore red. Some tannins in the finish that are a bit too big. Balance is fair to good, for such a big wine. If you like American style Syrah with less oak than normal, you should like this. I'll hold my other bottle at least a year though... 2014 should be good.
Friends and I tasted this at the Woodinville tasting room on 6/2/12. It had a deep, fragrant bouquet of black cherry, floral, mocha and spice aromas. The palate was rich, lush and dry with flavors of black cherry, plum, mocha and spice. 91+

I wish I had purchased more than one bottle of this. It drinks like a cab. Benefits greatly from a 1-2 hour decant. If I find more, I will probably hold it for another year or two before opening.

May not have a home varietally, but finds one on my palate give the smooth tannins, excellent secondary spice notes and powerful flavors. Good complexity and integration. Nice round wine which comes off as cab dominant. PDQ93

Freeload tour in Washington (Bellevue/Woodinville): 46% sangiovese. 36% Cabernet, The balance syrah. Winemaker: Folonari. TN: Red cherry and preserved fruit paste, full bodied and lush. reminds me of the richness of 2007 chianti. This was the biggest surprise from the lineup, best US sangiovese i've had.

Opened, 45 min air in decanter. Dark purple to the rim; wonderful medium nose of cherry, dark berry, spice and a hint of cedar. All follows thru on the palate, with the cherry really showing, complimented by vanilla & coco notes. Super smooth with well integrated tannins, medium long finish. Unfolds nicely over the course of several hours w suggests this could equally benefit from another 12 months in the bottle. Well worth seeking out - great value for the price.

Opened this because an offer for the '08 just came across and it had been awhile since I visited any vintage of Saggi. No detailed notes here on Day 1 - it's vanilla and dark fruit. Could be any varietal. I like it as a big, New World wine with a lot of oak. For Sangiovese character - I'm not getting that right now. But my past experiences have been a much improved Day 2 - so more to come....
