Wine of the night. This bottle was stellar. Everything you want in an aged pinot: Heady aromatics, truffles, earth, leather, iron, and still-vibrant fruit. Excellent acid to provide lift and make it a deft partner at the table with prime rib.
This wine showed no sign of tiredness and is at a wonderful peak (though I haven’t had it earlier in its life - maybe it was somehow better earlier, but I doubt it). Drink now.

Translucent rusty strawberry ruby. Nose of pine forest, juniper berry, alpine flowers, beautifully rendered red berry. Layers of resolved but still very lively red raspberry fruit cut with black cherry, cinnamon, bits of cola, and deepening plum notes on the satin-textured palate. Enlivening acidity and softened tannin. Long finish of autumnal red fruit, fine iron, and dense earth. A beautiful wine, even more lovely when paired with grilled salmon, ocean-side at Cannon Beach.

(Mostly) Oregon Dinner at Cherry Circle Room (Chicago, IL): Wine of the night (at least amongst the reds). Power, elegance, and grace, all tied up neatly with everything in perfect balance. The florals here are just spectacular, and followed with the soft tannins, forest floor flavours, and integrated acids, adding up to an amazing bottle of pinot.

Dinner at RY's (Vancouver, BC): This was really, really good. Beautiful aromatics of flowers, red fruits and earthy goodness. Elegant and very well balanced on the palate. This seems to be right in the zone and drinking perfectly right now. Very impressive and one of the best bottles of Oregon pinot I've ever had.

A very cool wine to try. It was floral on the nose with a spice and cherry palate.

Old Oregon Pinot with Travis and Friends (Little Bird): Super pure fruit carried by nicely balanced acidity. A big wine but pleasant if not terribly complex.
